IST is divided into six teams, which cover the entire domain of IT operations across LUMS.
I. Customer Support
- Providing first line support to users for all IT matters
- Mananging the IST Helpdesk and running the computing labs
- Maintaining all IT and AV equipment in classrooms
- Recording lectures and providing video/tele conference services
- Ordering off-the-shelf software and maintaing software licensing and subscription information
- Microsoft DreamSpark registration
- Maintaining the asset inventory for all IT related equipment across LUMS, and conducting annual inventory audits
II. Networks
- Providing Internet services
- Looking after the wireless and wired network
- Maintaining access control infrastructure, security cameras and other surveillance equipment
III. Systems
- Managing the LUMS Data Centers
- Looking after the servers, storage and telephony infrastructure
- Administering email services, mailing lists and SharePoint Portal
IV. Enterprise Applications
- Providing support and development for all enterprise level software at LUMS (e.g. Zambeel, SAP, Admissions System, etc.)
- Maintaining the LUMS Website
- Managing the digital signage across campus
- Adminstration of all enteprise databases
V. Learning Technology and Training
- Supporting faculty, students and staff in the use of the learning management system
- Running a regular program of training courses in office IT applications and LUMS enterprise systems
VI. Security and Compliance
- Ensuring our infrastructure and applications are secure and regularly scanned for vulnerabilities
- Working with internal and external auditors to ensure we comply with audit requirements
- Set and maintain international standards in IT operations management
